IMG_1907Lake Ray Roberts State Park had beautiful October wildflowers along the Dogwood Canyon primitive hiking trail. The trail was a little broad and flat for the most part, but it was windy enough to keep it interesting. Their main attraction is the many paved paths for roller bladers, strollers, and bikers. Lake Ray Roberts is conveniently located just north of the DFW metroplex, so makes for a nice gettaway for city folks. The lake has a nice swimming beach and a marina from which we rented 2 Hobie Kayaks. My son’s single person Angler decked out with pedals and a rudder left our two person longer kayak in the dust, or rather, his wake. The waves were pretty choppy so we had to stay in the roped off marina waters, but it planted the seed for future private ownership where we can go where we want. I’m interested in river treks.
